Student Life

To enrich each student life and promote personal development, Northholm Grammar has a range of initiatives beyond the curriculum. We understand that young people need guidance to find the personal interests and passions that will give their lives purpose and help them become positive influences in the world.

A Northholm Grammar education firmly believes that character and resilience are as crucial to young people’s future success as academic qualifications. Underlined within our approach is a focus on students learning about the importance of positive personal attributes – such as self-respect and self-worth, honesty, courage, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness and a sense of justice. Striving to achieve their personal best sets students on the path towards leading a well-rounded life and contributing to a thriving society.

Co-Curricular program

During their time at Northholm, students are offered a wide range of co-curricular opportunities and encouraged to make the most of the exciting array of cultural, physical and service related activities outside of the classroom setting. Across areas of agriculture, creative arts, entrepreneurship, extension and enrichment, music, oratory, outdoor education, performing arts, sports and STEM education, there is something for everyone. From their very earliest years in Kindergarten, students have the choices available to them to develop their interests and their gifts and engage in the wider community.

Wellbeing and Character

Student wellbeing is critical to ensuring positive growth and maturity for our young men and women so they can flourish. Northholm applies pastoral care programs and philosophy on a daily basis within the classroom, as well as specialist programs throughout the year, to ensure your child feels safe and nurtured throughout their learning journey.

At Northholm, we have also designed a bespoke Character Education Program for Years 7 to 11 with the aim to equip our students with the ethical, moral and social skills to thrive and lead in a complex and ever-changing world. The program aims to connect students with specialists in their fields to deliver tangible and relevant examples to empower them to embrace the future with confidence and compassion.

Leadership and Service

All students are provided with age-appropriate opportunities to develop leadership both within and outside the classroom and discover the attributes they need to lead lives as responsible and compassionate global citizens. In both the Primary and Secondary Years, age-appropriate leadership roles support in building positive relationships and growing communication, collaboration and decision-making skills.

All ages are given the opportunity to develop and extend leadership capacity through their involvement in a range of community initiatives. Service Learning at Northholm allows students to learn about others in need and undertake activities to the benefit of the wider community. Through a range of experiences, students are exposed to different perspectives that may challenge their thoughts and views on the world.
