At Northholm Grammar School, we believe the physical and mental challenges of individual and team sports help students learn about themselves and develop real-world skills such as teamwork, persistence and resilience. Offering many opportunities for your child to engage in healthy competition, the School has enjoyed a long tradition of sporting success at State and National levels.
The following Northholm Grammar students are acknowledged and commended for their outstanding co-curricular sports results from August to present.
Equestrian – Orange Anglican Grammar School K-12 Equestrian Interschools event
Five students: Grace Ward (Year 6), Minnie Pembroke-Birss (Year 6), Amelia Foster (Year 5), Arabella Izzard (Year 6) and Jess Ball (Year 8) competed with great success in the Equestrian disciplines of dressage and showjumping across three days of intense competition at Cudal Showgrounds. Each rider received outstanding individual results, with many well-earned 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards and titles won within their age categories.
Well done to our Equestrian athletes on their exceptional performances at the 2024 Arndell Interschool Equestrian Carnival at the Hawkesbury Showground. Special mentions to Emma and her horse for receiving the titles of Supreme Champion Senior Rider and Champion Senior Show Horse, respectively, and to Minnie for receiving 1st place as Best Handler (Primary Years).
Netball – 2024 HART Junior State Titles
Ben Norris (Year 8) competed in the U14s Ku-ring-gai Representative Netball Team at the 2024 HART Junior State Titles, winning the U14s Male Competition and walking away with his team as State Champions. As a result, Ben will represent the State in the U16s Mixed Indoor Netball Team at Nationals in Perth, Western Australia.
Cross Country – NSW Cross Country Championships (2024)
Making great strides,Ashleigh Mansell (Year 7) finished this year’s NSW Cross Country Championships in an impressive 4th place and Christopher Whitely (Year 8) went the distance to finish in 18th place. Morgan Dagg (Year 4) placed 1st in the NSW Boys Relay Team and 6th in the U10 Individual Boys Division at the National Cross Country Championships.
Aerobics – Schoolaerobics Australian National Championships
Thanks to our Aerobics students and their coaches, Northholm Grammar was able to achieve outstanding results at the Schoolaerobics Australian National Championships held in Adelaide. Incredibly, both the Primary Team and the Secondary Stage 1 Team won a Bronze Medal. Six students across the Primary and Secondary Years – Xanthia Hughes (Year 11), Kirralee Bray (Year 11), Bianca Irwin (Year 10), Jasmine O’Riordan (Year 7), Harper Lorenz (Year 8) and Ashleigh Mansell (Year 7) – received individual Bronze and Silver Medals and other impressive accolades across the styles of Jazz, Improv and Aerobics.
Diving – Australian National Schools Diving Championships
Congratulations to Indie Leon-Searle (Year 6) who secured the Silver Medal in the Girls 10-12 Platform in the Australian National Schools Diving Championships and went on to win the Gold Medal in the 10-12 Years Synchronised Diving in the School Sport Australia Championships.
Softball – Combined Independent Schools (CIS) 13&U Softball Team
After a successful trial, Thomas Rosevear (Year 6) has been selected to join the CIS 13&U Softball Team. We anticipate an exciting season ahead!
Fencing – Commonwealth Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships
Competing in Christchurch, New Zealand, Tiana Roberts (Year 8) represented Australia in the Commonwealth Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships. Tiana placed 6th in the U17s Saber Individual competition and 9th in the U20s Division. As the youngest competitor, Tiana competed with both the Cadet U17s and Junior U20s Australian Saber Teams, taking home a Gold Medal in the competition against India with the Junior team.
Cycling – 2024 AusCycling National Cylo-Cross Championship
A wonderful turnout after months of preparation for Sylvia Dagg (Year 7), who won a Gold Medal in the 2024 AusCycling National Cyclo-Cross Championships on the winding Victoria Park course in Ballarat, Victoria.
Dance – Australia-China Dance Culture Competition
Congratulations to Jiawei Xu (Year 10), who competed in the Australia-China Dance Culture Competition placing 3rd overall out of 224 contestants!
Athletics – Hills Zone Sports Association (HZSA) Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to our Primary and Secondary Years Athletics Teams on their exceptional results at the HZSA Athletics Carnival. In particular, Morgan Dagg (Year 4), U10 Boys, broke records in the 1,500m and 800m events and was named Runner Up Age Champion. Ashleigh Mansell (Year 7), 12 Years Girls, broke records in the 400m and 800m events and was named Runner Up Age Champion. Incredibly, another record was broken when Lila Oliver (Year 7) achieved a record in the 200m sprint. As a result, Northholm Grammar’s Primary Years achieved Best Performed School, with Secondary Years receiving Runner Up Best Performed School and finishing in 3rd place.
We are so proud of all Northholm athletes for their display of perseverance, camaraderie and hard work within their chosen sport, and we look forward to the next season of triumphs!
