At Northholm, teachers pride themselves on their knowledge of each student so as to accommodate their different learning styles, strengths and areas of growth. Academic enrichment programs and activities underpin our comprehensive approach to personalised learning for every student.
The Diverse Learning Team work closely with teaching staff to provide students with individual extension and support. The team consult with classroom teachers to develop teaching strategies that provide students with a challenging and personalised learning experience.
Personalised Education Plans (PEPs) are created for students who need adjusted programs, and these are regularly reviewed to ensure that their needs are consistently met. Teachers, Tutors, students and parents work in partnership with regular communication the key to our approach.
Study Boost is designed to assist Secondary Years students to develop those skills needed for independent study and task completion with the assistance of teachers. This environment will assist students to work carefully on home learning tasks, read questions and guidelines carefully, scaffold and plan assignments, consider options and ideas, research effectively, make notes, proofread and edit work, check rubrics closely and revise content areas.
Study Boost is run after school hours staffed by Secondary Years teachers three days a week.
For Primary Years students, Home Learning Club supports students to complete home learning tasks in a structured environment under the supervision of Primary Years teachers, who are available to provide assistance to students if required.
Northholm offers a range of co-curricular opportunities for both Primary and Secondary students to extend their academic interests including competitions and clubs across a range of disciplines including science, engineering, digital technologies, writing, languages, mathematics, humanities, oratory, chess, coding and more.
