“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world.” – Margaret Mead
Leadership at Northholm Grammar is grounded in the development of key life skills that empower students to lead with purpose and compassion. Northholm Grammar’s Leadership programs, including roles such as House Captains and the Student Representative Council, emphasise four key dimensions within the Student Leadership Framework: Leading Self, Leading Academically, Leading with Others and Changing Your World.
In addition to formal leadership roles, Northholm emphasises servant leadership through service-oriented programs like the Duke of Edinburgh Program and various mentoring activities like the Peer Support Program and Service Learning Week.
These opportunities help students cultivate self-awareness, effective communication and a sense of responsibility and care towards others. By embedding service into their daily lives, students are encouraged to contribute positively to their environment, preparing them to be global citizens capable of making meaningful impacts within the School and broader community.
On reflecting on their time as School Captains in 2024, Year 12s Sophie Hamilton-James and Kai Strickland expressed:
“At the commencement of our service [as School Captains], the Senior Leadership Team was intent on fostering a culture of pride in the School to which we belong, where all students feel a strong sense of belonging and connection to the Northholm Grammar School community.
In our service, our aim was to connect students across cohorts, as well as connect past and present students. Within this, there was emphasis on engagement in the opportunities on offer at Northholm Grammar, to maximise the growth of each individual within the Northholm community.”
On the last day of Term 3, Northholm Grammar celebrated the appointment of our Senior Student Leaders for 2025 at our Leadership Investiture Service.
