As a local engagement initiative, Northholm students were privileged today to have the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter land on Northholm’s oval. The pilot and crew spent time talking to students about the helicopter, its capabilities and shared with students important water-safety information in the lead up to summer.
Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions of the crew. We thank Mr Andrew Eggers, the NSW Metro Operations Manager for organising the visit, the pilot Rick Walden and crew members for giving of their time today and sharing such invaluable information with our students.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service is the oldest search and rescue service in Australia. The service has performed more than 80,000 missions nationally since 1973. No one has ever had to pay to be rescued. The service responds to emergencies threatening the life, health and safety of people caused through medical emergency, illness, natural disaster, accidents or mishaps.
